The Long climbs and descents total over 13,000 metres on trails ranging from wide open farm tracks to technical single track. Experience Panoramic views of the Pennines and valleys, green fields bounded by dry stone walls, heather moors, hidden reservoirs nestling in the hills and ancient packhorse tracks skirting hills and sweeping into valleys. The Race Village for Pennine Challenge is located on the outskirts of Glossop in Derbyshire. Hargate Hill Equestrian Centre will be host to the start and finish of the event, whilst providing the necessary facilities for competitors and crew in our race village. A second 'transition' village will be located near the geographic centre of the course. All Pennine Challenge competitors will pass through this twice at least twice, with Pennine Duathlon competitors using it as a transition from run to bike, and back to run again. We would like to ensure that all competitors compete on an equal basis, therefore exact route information will be provided to competitors when they arrive. There may also be further markings in the form of signposts and way markings along the route where deemed necessary. However, in order to complete this event successfully, competitors must have good orienteering skills and night navigation.
